Fore Street connects Corporation Street with Cannon Street.
An Act of Parliament in 1875 led to the creation of Corporation Street, it was to be built in stages, the first stage of the new road would be cut from New Street to Little Cannon Street, the second stage would be to Cherry Street, then Bull Street, and finally to Old Square.
That first stage of building cut though Little Cannon Street and shortened it in length; the name was then changed to Fore Street.
In the upper image, from the kerb in Cannon Street to the kerb on Corporation Street it measures approximately 120 feet (36.58 metres), Cannon Passage can be seen in the background.
In the lower image, Cannon Passage has been built upon, and the street has been restructured to convert it into a ‘No through Road’.

At one time, Union Passage connected New Street, Union Street, Crooked Lane, Martineau Street, and Bull Street, that was until the rebuilding/modernisation of Birmingham City Centre in the 1960's.
The only part still called Union Passage is this section - from New Street to here on Union Street, the section from here to Bull Street was completely redeveloped and is now called Martineau Way.
